Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai Hill Side- A short write up:

Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai Hillside was provisionally formed on 28 th February 1990. The Club was sponsored by ROTARY CLUB OF NAVI MUMBAI Rtn. Ramchandra Bhoyar. GSR of  the sponsoring Club arranged the first meeting with the prospective members on 14th February 1990 after which the office bearers were formally elected on 28th February 1990 and the Navi Mumbai Hillside Club was born.

Our Charter Officials

The Charter was approved by RI on 9th May 1990. The Club had 32 Charter members and the Charter was officially presented by the then District Governor Dr.R.M.Bhatt on 21st June 1990.

Initially the club used to meet at Bharti Vidyapeeth High School every Saturday at 8.30 pm, the venue was shifted to Bharti Vidyapeeth Manaement Institute. The Club shifted to the present CIDCO Community Center in 1996-97.

Upon the reconstruction of the CIDCO Community center, the club was given place in the Gaurav Mhatre Kala Kendra.

Early Landmarks

  • First Community Project: Shop given to a widow on 29th March1990.
  • First Polio Camp at Belapur School on 4th August 1990: Attended by International Polio Plus representative Miss Karl from USA, Rtn. Kalyan Banerjee, PDG Manibhai Doshi, Rtn Jayant Raje, Rtn Ramchandra Bhoyar and others.
  • Horizon the First Bulletin was released by the then District Governor Dr. R. M. Bhaton 4th April 1990.
  • Sponsored the First Rotaract Club in Nerul & Senior Citizen Club in CBD in

1991-92.

The Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai Hill Side was chartered on 21.06.1990, presently a part of the Rotary District 3142 after the splitting of the district 3140.

Presently, the club is located in Gaurav Mhatre Kala Kendra in Sector 3, CBD Belapur. This office has been given on lease agreement by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation.

The meetings are conducted in the Institution of Engineers (India), on its 3rd floor conference room, on every Wednesday in the evening.

Dr. D.Y.Patil, Rtn. Krishna Manjare, Rtn. Madhav Mahashabde, the chartered members are still active members of the Club.

The present strength of the club is 38 members and we propose to increase it to 50 during the present rotary year.

We are sponsoring the Rotaract Clubs (Rotaract Club of Bharative Vidyapeeth and Rotaract Club of NMHS) and also Inner Wheel Club.

The Rotaract club of BV has 28 members and Rotaract Club of NMHS has 57  members.

The Inner Wheel Club has also 28 members at present.

The club has sent many members in district and at present, 14 members are in the district in various important positions.

The club is engaged in various service projects eg. Blood donation, Disease prevention, health check up camps, development of the adopted advasi school at Dhamole, WINS project, health and sanitation, supporting environment by tree plantation, community economic development, welfare of senior citizens etc.

The club is equally active in the contribution towards TRF. At present there are about 13 PHF with Dr. D.Y. Patil with +6 pin. Also, Rtn. Krishna Manjare has his spouse Mrs. Suvarna and their granddaughter as PHF. We also have a target of $ 4,000 for TRF including Polio Fund and Annual fund.

The club is having a wide cross section of the society as members with different classification from teaching profession to nuclear scientists to businessmen to various professionals such as architects, engineers, consultants, bankers, insurance, chartered Accountants and a number of practicing doctors and doctors holding high positions in medical Colleges and other institutions.

There are 15 PP in this club and the retention is very high. The only negative point of this club is the average age is around 60. However, we are trying to induct new young members to make the club more vibrant.

Our club is committed to provide service to others, promote integrity and understanding, goodwill and peach through our fellowship and service above self.
